StackPaste Privacy Policy

This policy explains how StackPaste handles your clipboard data. The short version: your history is stored locally in an encrypted database, iCloud sync is optional and encrypted, and we do not run a server that holds your clips.

Where your data is stored

Clipboard history is saved by default in a local encrypted database (SQLCipher) on your Mac. It does not leave your device unless you turn on sync.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, clips are encrypted before being synced to your own iCloud account (CloudKit). The keys exist only on your devices — the developer cannot read your content.

On-device OCR

Text recognition runs on your device. Image content is not uploaded for processing.

Purchases

In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment details.

What we don't do

  • No account is required to use the core features.
  • No advertising SDKs and no behavioral analytics.
  • No automatic upload of your clipboard content to a developer-operated server.
  • We never sell your clipboard history or usage habits.

Third-party services

  • Apple CloudKit — used only for optional iCloud sync; data lives in your own iCloud account and is handled by Apple under its privacy policy.
  • Apple frameworks — on-device OCR and translation. Per Apple's framework documentation, Apple may process usage and performance metrics that do not include your original text, such as the app bundle identifier and source/target languages.
  • GitHub Pages — this public page is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process basic web request logs under its own policies.
